If you would like to order a custom illustration as a gift for wedding, anniversary, birthday or for whatever occasions (or no particular occasion) but were unsure how it works or what to expect, let me give you a glimpse through this post.
For instance, this client had requested for an illustration of her childhood memory with her dad. She sent me some photos along with these keywords to work around - ferris wheel, motorbike, badminton and/or rambutans. I then gathered more details from her eg. model of the motorbike, type of house, etc.
After confirmation of order and payment made, I proceeded to work on the rough sketches (usually 3. Or more if I have more ideas during brainstorming!). My client would select one sketch out of the lot and let me know what she’d liked for me to add or amend.
In this case, she'd chosen the 3rd sketch to be worked on. Below was pretty much how it looked with more details added.
My client then requested to have 1) one of the elements in the background removed to simplify the art piece, 2) Slight changes to the characters' hairstyles, 3) Car plate number to be added.
Final stage - Filling in the colours plus some background colour variations to choose from.
SO here's how the final piece looked (I decided to enlarge the characters so they stood out more).
It was my great honour to be entrusted with this very personal assignment. It sure brought back many wonderful memories of my late dad as well. 💜
If you’d also like to have your personal story transforms into an illustration, let me know. Rest assure that I'm using only high quality, fade-resistant (archival) printing method so you can expect art museum print standard. Alternatively, you may choose to have the artwork sent to you in soft copy or printed on merchandise. There are various packages options to choose from. Feel free to contact me to enquire! :)
